Mouth ulcers in horses and ponies
This is what an ulcer looks like in a horse's mouth. Ulcers take place when a pony's teeth sharpen around the edges. When ridden the bit in the horse's mouth can pull the inside of the horse's cheek onto these sharp edges which causes ulceration of the mouth and tongue. This is very uncomfortable and painful for the pony and horse.

African Horse Sickness
Just walked JJ around yesterday. I am not able to exercise or jump him much at the moment because he has been inoculated against African Horse Sickness. He is receiving his second injection this week. Can't wait for him to be out.
Bring forth a carrot and you can pretty much ask him to do anything.

Octoberfest
Rules are rules - hairnet, riding jacket, jods, the works. Had to get all dressed up for this one. Octoberfest at GHS.
Ouma and Nana, my faithful supporters. Nana's voice from the stands counting JJ's strides in as he approached the jumps. She used to do that when Dad jumped too. Actually, I think she still does (sometimes).

Jumping Jack Flash
Meet Jumping Jack Flash, or JJ as we know him. This 11 year old pony is about 14 hands high and loves to EAT EAT EAT. Anything on the menu will do. Some cellulite is on the cards if we don't do some exercise. He has brought us buckets full of laughs and plenty joy.
This video was taken at our first training show at Aragon stables. With such a sweet, kind, willing pony, clear rounds were on the cards for us. Lots of carrots and hugs afterwards.
We have competed in other show jumping competitions since, the last of which was the Octoberfest, our first graded show. We obtained an 8th place in this show. Watch this space.
